Business Outline of ASKU-Scholten GmbH

ASKU-Scholten was founded in 1982 in order to continue the line of the local company "Gebrüder Scholten" which had been supplying parts for the steel industry since 1893.

The circle of customers and the field of business are still the same. Our main competence is our know-how with regards to mechanical conveying and handling systems in the steel industry. But there are also other fields of business, for example driving and braking techniques.

The name of "Scholten" is a household word in the development of norm parts such as:

double shoe brakes

disk brakes

couplings with or without drums and disks

cable drums and drum couplings

rope pulleys

wheels

bottom hook blocks with or without electromechanically

rotating hook

traverses

manipulators

coils tongs

ladles for the transport of molten steel

etc.

We were able to have most of these developments patented.

Our work in several engineering standards committees helps us to make sure that our products are always of the highest technical standard.

Long years of experience and special technical knowledge enable us to develop engineering designs which exactly satisfy our customers' needs and to manage our production which is transferred to special contract companies.

We design engineerings for all areas connected with mechanical conveying and handling systems, from planning and execution to reconstruction and increase of capacity. Examples are:

      pre-examinations and studies on possibility

      examination of damages

      layout with regards to both function and safety

      technical specifications (proposal requests included)

      engineering design up to working drawing;

      planing and/or execution of construction;

      calculation ready for pre-examination and acceptance examinations for start of productions included

      providing of specialists for pre-examinations, supervision of construction and acceptance examinations

Our team of engineers is provided with up-to-date soft- and hardware, such as CAD, FE programs and programs for the calculation of structural steel. We have even developed our own computer programs concerning the calculation of gear-tooth-systems, brakes and certain areas of statics which were not available on the market.

Being a provider of technical services for big companies one of our main advantages is our flexibility, which we gain by working together on a close level with universities and other research groups. One of our research partners is the Institute for Mechanical Conveying and Handling Systems of the Technical University in Berlin. Our field of research together is the examination of brake liners, a project which is being sponsored by the European Community and the steel industry.

Our customers' needs require thorough knowledge in both the customer's problem and our products, together with long experience in calculation and engineering design. Our international team of engineers work in small dynamic groups of specialists who are selected as the customers' needs and the tasks require.

Thanks to its up-to-date company structure and organization ASKU-Scholten is able to offer to its customers the adaptation to the constantly rising level of productivity, but with a close eye to the costs.

We provide service and products with high standards of efficiency and safety and low risk of breakdown.

Our growth shows that we do not only reach high standards in the development of products together with big companies, but are also active in the field of basic research.
